India vs Pakistan: Top 5 Batting Performance in ODis

The India vs Pakistan clash has become a great occasion for the cricket enthusiasts to rejoice. Both countries are remarkably passionate about their own country cricket. However, the outcome of a particular India versus Pakistan encounter so often resulted in immense reactions from the supporters.

Fakhar Zaman 114, London,2017

Considering the importance of the occasion, this innings from Fakhar Zaman in the ICC champions trophy final in 2017, was a fantastic one. Pakistan did start that particular tournament as the lowest-ranked in the point table, among all the team playing the tournament. So why India was looking like the clear favorite, before the match. After winning the toss, Virat Kohli opted to bowl.

Fakhar Zaman came to the tournament without any past International experience, but the way he played in the Final seemed to have been there. At the start of his innings, he looked shaky. But as the innings progresses he grabbed the momentum in his way through. Indian bowling attack literally had no answer to his destructive mode. He was pulling & cutting the ball very easily. Moreover, he scored 12 fours and 3 sixes in his innings.

His soulful 114 from 106 balls ensured Pakistan to post an unassailable score of 338 in 50 overs. In response, India bundled out for a mere score of 158. Mohammad Amir & Hasan Ali was the key performers with the bowl in hand. 

Virat Kohli 183, Dhaka,2012

In a group stage match of the 2012 Asia Cup, Pakistan posted a daunting score of 329 runs in 50 overs, based on two hundred from the openers. India was put under pressure by Pakistan at an early break in the first over. Virat Kohli came after the departure of Gautam Gambhir and played one of the finest One Day Innings. He scored a scintillating 183 runs off just 148 balls, including 22 boundaries and two over boundaries. 

A most astonishing fact of this particular innings was he kept the required run-rate under control throughout his innings. He made sure to remain solid against the formidable Pakistani bowling lineup, likes of Shahid Afridi, Umar Gul, Saed Ajmal, Junaid Khan. Sachin Tendulkar & Rohit Sharma also have the best possible support to him as well. Both of them scored fifty a piece to stabilize the run chase.

Rohit Sharma 140, Manchester, 2019

It was the 22nd match of the 2019 cricket World cup. After winning the toss Pakistan skipper took a brave decision to bowl first. Rohit Sharma scored a simply outstanding 140 of just 113 balls. He scored 14 fours and 3 sixes in the innings. Pakistan bowling line up was really helpless Because they don’t have the right answer, how they can stop Hit Man. The innings was a typical Rohit Sharma one, where we witnessed his trademark short-arm pull. Kl Rahul also did a fantastic job in the partnership with Rohit Sharma.

Only Mohammed Amir was the exception who took 3 wickets in his 10 overs of quota. Apart from him, all other bowlers were punished with real authority. Especially Hasan Ali was the most expensive bowler of the day, as he conceded 84 runs in 10 overs. India posted a mammoth total of 336 in 50 overs. In reply, Pakistan stumbled out for only 212 runs in 50 overs. As a batting unit, they failed to display a good performance.

Saeed Anwar 194, Chennai,1997

The match was the 6th match of the Independence Cup 1997. Weather was really hot, in this extreme condition Saeed Anwar did come up with outrageous innings of 194 runs. In the process, he broke the 13 years old record, which was held by Sir Vivian Richards of 189* against England. However, he successfully held the record for the next 13 years. 

After winning the toss Pakistan chose to bat. The whole day belonged to Saeed Anwar, apart from him, no one else was able to score more than 39. Despite the failure of their middle-order, they posted a big total of 327 runs on the board. However, India did start the chase rather auspiciously, Rahul Dravid scored a good hundred in the middle order. But eventually, they fell short in the run chase, due to the failure of the lower middle order. Aaqib Javed was the most standout bowler from the Pakistani camp, he took 5 wickets in his 10 overs. Saeed Anwar was adjudged as the man of the match for his rare innings.

 Sachin Tendulkar 98, Centurian,2003

After choosing to bat first Pakistan did post a modest total of 273 runs on the board, Saeed Anwar was the chief contributor for them with his 101. Considering the occasion of Indo-Pak clash on the World Cup, was not a bad total by any means. But the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar has another idea, his electric 98 off just 75 was good enough to build the platform for the upcoming batsmen. 

Tendulkar literally punished the Pakistani bowling attack all over the ground. Although at the end he loosed his momentum due to hamstring injury. However, Rahul Dravid & Yuvraj Singh make sure India on the right track by their unbeaten innings. Indian won the match by a margin of 6 wickets.


India vs Pakistan rivalry has a great reputation for making the game of cricket popular all over the world. India and Pakistan have some political issues among them for a long time. So why people can only enjoy this occasion in the ICC events.
